Youssoupha Mabiki, known professionally as Youssoupha, is a French rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer of Congolese descent. Youssoupha is known for his intelligent wordplay, complex lyrics, and socially conscious songs.
Youssoupha was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on August 29, 1979. He moved to France with his family when he was a child. He began rapping in the early 2000s and released his debut album, "Pour Ceux Qui Dorment Les Yeux Ouverts", in 2007. The album was a commercial success and was certified platinum in France.
Youssoupha has since released five more studio albums, all of which have been certified gold or platinum in France. He has also won numerous awards, including two Victoires de la Musique awards (France's equivalent of the Grammy Awards) and a BET Hip Hop Award.
