Biography

Bruce Dickinson is an English singer, songwriter, airline pilot, author, and broadcaster. He is best known as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, which he joined in 1981. He has also released several solo albums, and has worked as a commercial airline pilot for Astraeus Airlines and Cardiff Aviation.

Dickinson was born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England, on August 7, 1958. He developed an interest in music at an early age, and began singing in local bands while still in school. After graduating from high school, he briefly attended Queen Mary College, London, but dropped out to pursue a career in music.

In 1981, Dickinson joined Iron Maiden, replacing Paul Di'Anno as the band's lead singer. With Dickinson on vocals, Iron Maiden released a series of successful albums, including "Number of the Beast" (1982), "Piece of Mind" (1983), and "Powerslave" (1984). The band's popularity continued to grow throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and Dickinson became one of the most recognizable figures in heavy metal.

In 1993, Dickinson left Iron Maiden to pursue a solo career. He released two solo albums, "Tattooed Millionaire" (1990) and "Balls to Picasso" (1994), before rejoining Iron Maiden in 1999. Since then, the band has released several more successful albums, including "Brave New World" (2000), "Dance of Death" (2003), and "The Final Frontier" (2010).

In addition to his music career, Dickinson has also worked as a commercial airline pilot. He has flown for Astraeus Airlines and Cardiff Aviation, and has also made several appearances on television and radio shows. In 2015, he published his autobiography, "What Does This Button Do?"
