Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor (born 26 February 1984) is a Togolese professional footballer who last played as a striker for Paraguayan club Olimpia.

Born in Lomé, Adebayor began his career with local club OC Agaza before moving to France to join Metz. He made his professional debut in 2001 and spent two seasons at the club before joining Monaco. In 2006, he moved to Arsenal, where he spent three seasons and won the FA Cup in 2007. In 2009, he joined Manchester City for a club-record fee of £25 million. He spent two seasons at the club before joining Real Madrid on loan. In 2011, he joined Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal. In 2015, he joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer.

Adebayor has made 87 appearances for the Togo national team, scoring 32 goals. He has represented his country at five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, as well as the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Early life and career

Adebayor was born in Lomé, Togo, on 26 February 1984. He began his career with local club OC Agaza, where he was spotted by a scout from French club Metz. He joined Metz in 2001 and made his professional debut in the 2001–02 season. He spent two seasons at the club, making 24 appearances and scoring 6 goals.

In 2003, Adebayor joined Monaco. He quickly established himself as a first-team regular and helped the club to win the 2003–04 Ligue 1 title. He also helped the club to reach the final of the 2004 UEFA Champions League, where they lost to Porto.

Arsenal

In 2006, Adebayor joined Arsenal for a fee of £7 million. He quickly became a first-team regular and scored 24 goals in his first season at the club. He was also named the club's Player of the Season.

In the 2007–08 season, Adebayor helped Arsenal to win the FA Cup. He scored the winning goal in the final against Chelsea. He also helped the club to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they were eliminated by Manchester United.

In the 2008–09 season, Adebayor was Arsenal's leading goalscorer with 16 goals. He also helped the club to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League again, where they were eliminated by Barcelona.

Manchester City

In 2009, Adebayor joined Manchester City for a club-record fee of £25 million. He made his debut for the club in the 2009–10 season and scored 14 goals in his first season at the club.

In the 2010–11 season, Adebayor was loaned to Real Madrid. He scored 6 goals in 14 appearances for the club.

Tottenham Hotspur

In 2011, Adebayor joined Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal. He scored 17 goals in his first season at the club.

In the 2012–13 season, Adebayor was Tottenham's leading goalscorer with 21 goals. He also helped the club to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, where they were eliminated by Basel.

In the 2013–14 season, Adebayor scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for Tottenham.

Crystal Palace

In 2015, Adebayor joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer. He scored 2 goals in 12 appearances
