Biography
Lars Ulrich is a Danish musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the drummer and co-founder of the heavy metal band Metallica. Ulrich was born in Gentofte, Denmark, and began playing drums at the age of 13. He moved to the United States in 1980 to pursue a career in music.
In 1981, Ulrich met James Hetfield, and the two formed Metallica. The band's debut album, Kill 'Em All, was released in 1983 and was a critical and commercial success. Metallica has since released 10 studio albums, all of which have been certified multi-platinum. The band has won nine Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Ulrich is known for his aggressive drumming style and his use of double bass drum pedals. He is also a talented songwriter and has co-written many of Metallica's most popular songs. Ulrich is also a producer and has produced albums for other artists, including Lou Reed, Slipknot, and System of a Down.
Personal life
Ulrich has been married twice. His first marriage was to Skylar Satenstein from 1997 to 2004. The couple had one son, Myles Ulrich. Ulrich's second marriage was to Jessica Miller from 2015 to 2016. The couple had one son, Layne Ulrich.
Ulrich is a practicing Buddhist and is a supporter of the Tibetan independence movement. He is also a supporter of the arts and has donated money to various museums and art institutions.
