Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz (born 24 January 1987) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a striker for Spanish club Atlético Madrid, on loan from FC Barcelona, and the Uruguay national team. Widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, Suárez has won numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Premier League Golden Boot twice, the European Golden Shoe once, and the Pichichi Trophy once. He has also won the Copa América with Uruguay and the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona.
Early Life and Career
Suárez was born in Salto, Uruguay, and began his career with hometown club Nacional in 2005. He quickly established himself as a prolific goalscorer, helping the club win the Uruguayan Primera División title in his first season. In 2006, he moved to Dutch club Groningen, where he continued to score goals at a high rate. His performances in the Netherlands earned him a move to Ajax in 2007.
Ajax
