Ricardo Quaresma
Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo (born 26 September 1983) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Vitória de Guimarães and the Portugal national team. Mainly a right winger, he can also play as an attacking midfielder or second striker.
Born in Lisbon, Quaresma began his career at Sporting CP and went on to play for Porto, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Beşiktaş, Al-Ahli, and Kasımpaşa. He returned to Portugal in 2020, signing for Vitória de Guimarães.
A Portuguese international, Quaresma played 80 matches and scored 10 goals for Portugal from 2003 to 2018. He was part of their squads that reached the final of UEFA Euro 2004 and won UEFA Euro 2016.
Playing style
Quaresma is a highly skilled and versatile player, known for his dribbling ability, trickery, flair, and powerful shot. He is also an accurate passer and crosser of the ball. Quaresma has been praised for his creativity and ability to create chances for his teammates.
International career
Quaresma made his international debut for Portugal on 10 September 2003, in a 1–0 friendly win against Spain. He was part of the Portugal squad that reached the final of UEFA Euro 2004, where they lost to Greece.
Quaresma was also part of the Portugal squad that won UEFA Euro 2016. He scored the winning goal in the semi-final against Wales, a 2–0 victory. In the final, he came on as a substitute in the second half and helped Portugal to a 1–0 victory over France.
Quaresma retired from international football after the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He made a total of 80 appearances for Portugal and scored 10 goals.
Personal life
Quaresma is married to Daphne Quaresma and they have two children. He is a practicing Muslim and has stated that his faith is very important to him.
