Bastian Schweinsteiger
Bastian Schweinsteiger (born August 1, 1984) is a German former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He is considered one of the greatest German players of his generation.
Schweinsteiger began his career at Bayern Munich, where he made his first-team debut in 2002. He spent 13 years with the club, winning eight Bundesliga titles, seven DFB-Pokals, and the UEFA Champions League in 2013. He also made over 500 appearances for Bayern in all competitions.
In 2015, Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United, where he spent two years before returning to Germany to play for Bayern's rivals, Borussia Dortmund. He retired from professional football in 2019.
Schweinsteiger also represented the German national team from 2004 to 2016, making 121 appearances and scoring 24 goals. He was part of the German team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup and was also a runner-up in the 2008 European Championship and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Schweinsteiger was known for his leadership skills, passing ability, and work rate. He was also a versatile player who could play in a variety of positions.
After retiring from playing, Schweinsteiger became a television pundit and also worked as a coach for Bayern Munich's under-19 team.
Personal life
Schweinsteiger was born in Kolbermoor, West Germany. He is married to Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanović, with whom he has two children.
Schweinsteiger is a fluent speaker of German, English, and Spanish. He is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
