Early life and career

Dejan Lovren was born in Zenica, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina), on July 5, 1989. He started playing football at a young age and joined the Dinamo Zagreb academy in 2004. He made his professional debut for Dinamo Zagreb in 2006 and quickly became a regular starter. He won the Croatian First Football League title with Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 and 2009.

Lyon

In 2010, Lovren moved to Lyon in the French Ligue 1. He quickly became a key player for Lyon and helped the club win the Coupe de France in 2012. He also played in the UEFA Champions League with Lyon and was named in the UEFA Team of the Year in 2013.

Liverpool

In 2014, Lovren joined Liverpool in the Premier League. He made his debut for Liverpool in a 2-1 win over Southampton on August 17, 2014. He scored his first goal for Liverpool in a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on September 20, 2014. Lovren was a regular starter for Liverpool during the 2014-15 season and helped the club finish sixth in the Premier League.

In the 2015-16 season, Lovren continued to be a regular starter for Liverpool. He helped the club finish eighth in the Premier League and reach the final of the UEFA Europa League. Lovren scored a goal in the Europa League final, but Liverpool lost 3-1 to Sevilla.

In the 2016-17 season, Lovren was less of a regular starter for Liverpool. He made only 18 appearances in the Premier League and was often injured. Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the final of the UEFA Champions League. Lovren did not play in the Champions League final, which Liverpool lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

In the 2017-18 season, Lovren was again a regular starter for Liverpool. He helped the club finish fourth in the Premier League and reach the final of the UEFA Champions League. Lovren played in the Champions League final, which Liverpool won 2-0 over Tottenham Hotspur.

In the 2018-19 season, Lovren was less of a regular starter for Liverpool. He made only 18 appearances in the Premier League and was often injured. Liverpool won the Premier League title for the first time in 30 years. Lovren was not a regular starter, but he made a significant contribution to Liverpool's success.

Zenit Saint Petersburg

In 2020, Lovren joined Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Russian Premier League. He has been a regular starter for Zenit and has helped the club win the Russian Premier League title in 2020 and 2021.

International career

Lovren has represented Croatia at the international level since 2010. He has made over 70 appearances for Croatia and has scored three goals. He was a member of the Croatia squad that reached the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Lovren played in all seven of Croatia's matches at the World Cup and helped the team to a second-place finish.
