Biography

Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time and is often referred to as "Slowhand" because of his fluid and expressive playing style. Clapton has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times: once as a member of the Yardbirds, once as a member of Cream, and once as a solo artist. He has also received 18 Grammy Awards.

Clapton was born in Ripley, Surrey, England, on March 30, 1945. He began playing guitar at the age of 13 and quickly developed a passion for the instrument. He joined his first band, the Roosters, in 1962. In 1963, he joined the Yardbirds, one of the most popular British blues bands of the era. Clapton left the Yardbirds in 1965 to form Cream with bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker. Cream was one of the most successful rock bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band released four studio albums, all of which were commercial and critical successes. Clapton left Cream in 1968 to pursue a solo career.

Clapton's solo career has been marked by both commercial success and critical acclaim. He has released 23 studio albums, many of which have been certified platinum or multi-platinum. Clapton has also won numerous awards, including 18 Grammy Awards and three Brit Awards. He has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times.

Clapton is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He is known for his fluid and expressive playing style, which has influenced many other guitarists. Personal life

Clapton has been married three times. He has four children, three of whom are with his second wife, Pattie Boyd. Clapton is also a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. He has been sober since 1987.
