Marlon Wayans (born July 23, 1972) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He is best known for his roles in the films I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), Mo' Money (1992), The Wayans Bros. (1995–1999), Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 2 (2001), White Chicks (2004), Little Man (2006), Norbit (2007), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), and Fifty Shades of Black (2016). He has also starred in the television series Marlon (2017–2018).
Wayans was born in New York City, the son of Elvira Alethia (Green), a social worker, and Howell Stouten Wayans, a supermarket manager. He is the ninth of ten children, including his siblings Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Kim Wayans, and Nadia Wayans. Wayans attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he studied drama.
Wayans began his career in entertainment as a stand-up comedian. He made his film debut in I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), which was directed by his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans. He went on to star in a number of films, including Mo' Money (1992), The Wayans Bros. (1995–1999), Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 2 (2001), White Chicks (2004), Little Man (2006), Norbit (2007), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), and Fifty Shades of Black (2016). He has also starred in the television series Marlon (2017–2018).
In addition to his acting career, Wayans has also worked as a writer and producer. He co-wrote and produced the films Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 2 (2001), White Chicks (2004), Little Man (2006), Norbit (2007), and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009). He also produced the television series Marlon (2017–2018).
Wayans has won numerous awards for his work in film and television, including two BET Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, and a Golden Globe Award nomination. He has also been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Personal life
Wayans was married to Angelica Zachary from 2005 to 2013. They have two children together, a son named Shawn Howell Wayans (born 2002) and a daughter named Amai Zackary Wayans (born 2009). Wayans is also the father of a daughter named Mariah Wayans (born 2014) from a previous relationship.
Wayans is a Christian. He is also a vegan.
