Bertrand Traoré

Bertrand Isidore Traoré (born 6 September 1995) is a Burkinabé professional footballer who plays as a winger for Süper Lig club İstanbul Başakşehir and the Burkina Faso national team.

Traoré began his career at AJE Bobo Dioulasso before moving to Chelsea in 2013. He spent time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem and Ajax before joining Lyon in 2017. In 2022, he signed for İstanbul Başakşehir.

Traoré has represented Burkina Faso at international level, making his debut in 2011. He was part of the squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Club career

Early career

Traoré was born in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. He began his career at AJE Bobo Dioulasso, before moving to Chelsea in 2013.

Chelsea

On 1 January 2014, Traoré made his Premier League debut for Chelsea, coming on as a substitute in a 3–0 win over Southampton. He scored his first goal for the club on 31 May 2014, in a 2–1 victory over Cardiff City.

Loan spells

In August 2014, Traoré was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem for the 2014–15 season. He made 31 appearances for the club, scoring six goals.

In July 2015, Traoré was loaned to Ajax for the 2015–16 season. He made 31 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.

Lyon

On 27 June 2017, Traoré joined Lyon for a fee of €10 million. He made his debut for the club on 5 August 2017, in a 4–0 win over Strasbourg. He scored his first goal for the club on 19 August 2017, in a 3–3 draw with Montpellier.

Traoré made 120 appearances for Lyon, scoring 30 goals.

İstanbul Başakşehir

On 8 September 2022, Traoré signed for İstanbul Başakşehir on a three-year contract. He made his debut for the club on 11 September 2022, in a 2–0 win over Fatih Karagümrük. He scored his first goal for the club on 18 September 2022, in a 4–1 win over Kayserispor.

International career

Traoré represented Burkina Faso at various youth levels before making his senior debut in 2011. He was part of the squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Traoré has made 68 appearances for Burkina Faso, scoring 21 goals.

Personal life

Traoré is a Muslim. He is the younger brother of Alain Traoré, who also plays for Burkina Faso.
