Taron Egerton

Taron David Egerton (born 10 November 1989) is a Welsh actor. He is known for his roles as Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in the Kingsman film series, Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards in the biopic Eddie the Eagle (2016), and Elton John in the musical fantasy Rocketman (2019).

Early life

Egerton was born in Birkenhead, Merseyside, England, to Christine and David Egerton. His father is a social worker and his mother is a social worker and hypnotherapist. Egerton has two older sisters, Angharad and Mari. He is of Welsh descent.

Egerton attended Rhosnesni High School in Shotton, Flintshire, and graduated in 2008. He then studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, graduating in 2012.

Career

Egerton made his professional acting debut in 2012, appearing in the play "The Aliens" at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre. He went on to appear in several other stage productions, including "The Last of the Haussmans" (2012), "The Importance of Being Earnest" (2013), and "The Seagull" (2013).

In 2014, Egerton made his film debut in the spy comedy Kingsman: The Secret Service. He played Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, a young recruit to the Kingsman Secret Service. The film was a commercial success, grossing over $414 million worldwide.

Egerton reprised his role as Eggsy in the 2017 sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The film was also a commercial success, grossing over $410 million worldwide.

In 2016, Egerton starred in the biopic Eddie the Eagle. He played Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, a British ski jumper who became a national hero at the 1988 Winter Olympics. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $150 million worldwide.

In 2019, Egerton starred in the musical fantasy Rocketman. He played Elton John, the legendary British singer-songwriter. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $195 million worldwide.

Egerton's other film credits include Legend (2015), Robin Hood (2018), and Sing (2016). He is also set to star in the upcoming films Tetris and Oppenheimer.

Personal life

Egerton is in a relationship with Emily Thomas. They have one child together, a daughter named Willow.
