Romain Grosjean
Romain Grosjean (born 17 April 1986) is a Swiss-French professional racing driver. He competed in Formula One from 2009 to 2020, driving for Renault, Lotus, and Haas. He won the GP2 Series championship in 2011 and the Auto GP championship in 2008.
Early life and career
Grosjean was born in Geneva, Switzerland, to a French father and a Swiss mother. He began karting at the age of 14, and won the French Junior Karting Championship in 2001. He moved up to Formula Renault in 2003, and won the French Formula Renault Championship in 2005.
In 2006, Grosjean moved up to the Formula 3 Euro Series, where he finished third in the championship. He also made his debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 11th overall.
In 2007, Grosjean moved up to the GP2 Series, where he finished seventh in the championship. He also won the 24 Hours of Spa, and finished second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Formula One career
Renault (2009)
Grosjean made his Formula One debut with Renault in 2009, replacing Nelson Piquet Jr. He scored his first points in his third race, the Spanish Grand Prix, finishing eighth. He scored points in four more races that season, and finished 14th in the championship.
Lotus (2012-2016)
Grosjean moved to Lotus for the 2012 season, replacing Jarno Trulli. He scored points in 10 races that season, and finished eighth in the championship.
In 2013, Grosjean scored points in 10 races again, and finished eighth in the championship for the second time.
In 2014, Grosjean scored points in 8 races, and finished 14th in the championship.
In 2015, Grosjean scored points in 9 races, and finished 11th in the championship.
In 2016, Grosjean scored points in 6 races, and finished 13th in the championship.
Haas (2016-2020)
Grosjean moved to Haas for the 2016 season, replacing Esteban Gutiérrez. He scored points in 6 races that season, and finished 13th in the championship.
In 2017, Grosjean scored points in 8 races, and finished 13th in the championship again.
In 2018, Grosjean scored points in 9 races, and finished 14th in the championship.
In 2019, Grosjean scored points in 13 races, and finished 16th in the championship.
In 2020, Grosjean scored points in 3 races, and finished 19th in the championship.
Indianapolis 500
Grosjean made his Indianapolis 500 debut in 2021, driving for Dale Coyne Racing. He finished 17th in the race.
Personal life
Grosjean is married to Marion Jollès Grosjean, a French television presenter. They have three children together.
Grosjean is a keen skier and cyclist. He also enjoys playing tennis and golf.
