Early Life
Arsenio Hall was born on February 12, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the son of Fred Hall, a factory worker, and Anne Hall, a homemaker. Hall attended East High School in Cleveland, where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. After graduating from high school, Hall attended Kent State University for a short time before dropping out to pursue a career in comedy.
Career
Hall began his comedy career in the early 1980s, performing at open mics and comedy clubs in Cleveland. In 1984, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television. Hall's big break came in 1986 when he was cast as the sidekick on the Arsenio Hall Show, a late-night talk show that aired on Fox. The show was a success, and Hall quickly became one of the most popular comedians in the United States.
The Arsenio Hall Show ran for five seasons, ending in 1994. After the show ended, Hall continued to work as a comedian and actor. He has appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Coming to America (1988), Harlem Nights (1989), and Black Dynamite (2009).
In 2013, Hall returned to late-night television with a new show called Arsenio. The show aired on the CW for one season before being canceled.
