James Corden

James Kimberley Corden OBE (born 22 August 1978) is an English actor, comedian, writer, producer, and television host. He is known for presenting the late-night talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS and the sports-based comedy panel show A League of Their Own on Sky One.

Corden began his career in the British television series Fat Friends (2000–2005) and Gavin & Stacey (2007–2010), where he played the role of Smithy. He then starred in the Hollywood films Into the Woods (2014), The Lady in the Van (2015), Trolls (2016), Ocean's Eight (2018), The Prom (2020), Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021), and Cinderella (2021).

Corden has won numerous awards for his work on television, including ten Primetime Emmy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and two Tony Awards. He has also received two Golden Globe Award nominations.

Early life and education

Corden was born in Hillingdon, London, to Margaret (née Sullivan) and Malcolm Corden. His father was a musician and his mother was a social worker. Corden has two sisters, Ruth and Andrea. He was educated at Holmer Green Junior School and Park Middle School in Buckinghamshire. He then attended Jackie Palmer Stage School and the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.

Career

Television

Corden began his acting career in the British television series Fat Friends (2000–2005), where he played the role of Jamie Rymer. He then starred in the sitcom Gavin & Stacey (2007–2010), which he co-wrote with Ruth Jones. The series was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards, including two BAFTA Awards.

In 2015, Corden became the host of the late-night talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS. The show quickly became a hit, winning numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2023, Corden announced that he would be leaving The Late Late Show in 2023.

Corden also hosted the sports-based comedy panel show A League of Their Own on Sky One from 2010 to 2019. The show was a critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards, including two BAFTA Awards.

Film

Corden made his film debut in the 2002 film All or Nothing. He then starred in the Hollywood films Into the Woods (2014), The Lady in the Van (2015), Trolls (2016), Ocean's Eight (2018), The Prom (2020), Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021), and Cinderella (2021).

Stage

Corden made his Broadway debut in the 2012 play One Man, Two Guvnors. He then starred in the 2016 musical The History Boys. Corden has won numerous awards for his work in theater, including two Tony Awards.

Other work

Corden has also released two albums, James Corden: Stand Up (2010) and That's What I Said (2012). He has also written two books, May I Have Your Attention, Please? (2011) and Bigger, Better, and Even More Silly (2014).

Personal life

Corden married Julia Carey in 2012. They have three children together. Corden is a supporter of the Labour Party.
