Isla Fisher is an Australian actress, writer, and producer. She is known for her roles in films such as Wedding Crashers (2005), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), Bachelorette (2012), and The Great Gatsby (2013). Fisher has also appeared in television series such as Arrested Development (2003–2006) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2007).

Early life and education

Fisher was born in Muscat, Oman, to Scottish parents. Her father, Brian Fisher, was a banker, and her mother, Elspeth Reid, was a homemaker. Fisher has four older siblings. The family moved to Australia when Fisher was six years old.

Fisher attended Presbyterian Ladies' College, Sydney, where she began acting in school productions. She then studied drama at the University of Sydney, but dropped out after two years to pursue an acting career.

Career

Fisher's first acting role was in the Australian soap opera Paradise Beach (1993–1994). She then appeared in several other Australian television series, including Home and Away (1994–1997) and Roar (1997).

In 2000, Fisher moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. She landed her first major role in the film Scooby-Doo (2002). Fisher then appeared in a number of other films, including Wedding Crashers (2005), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), and Bachelorette (2012).

In addition to her film work, Fisher has also appeared in several television series. She had a recurring role in the sitcom Arrested Development (2003–2006) and guest-starred in the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm (2007).

Fisher has also written and produced several short films. In 2013, she made her directorial debut with the film Bachelorette.

Personal life

Fisher married English actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in 2010. The couple have three children together: Olive (born 2007), Elula (born 2010), and Montgomery (born 2015).
