Career

Gael García Bernal is a Mexican actor, director, and producer. He is known for his roles in the films Amores perros, Y tu mamá también, The Motorcycle Diaries, Babel, The Science of Sleep, No, Blindness, Mamá, Neruda, and Zama. Bernal has also directed several short films and documentaries, including Déficit (2007) and Chicuarotes (2019).

Bernal began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in several Mexican telenovelas. He made his film debut in 1996 with Amores perros, which was a critical and commercial success. Bernal's performance in the film earned him a nomination for the Ariel Award for Best Actor.

In 2000, Bernal starred in Y tu mamá también, which was another critical and commercial success. The film earned Bernal a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

In 2004, Bernal starred in The Motorcycle Diaries, which was a biographical film about the early life of Che Guevara. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Bernal's performance earned him a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
