Kostas Antetokounmpo is a Greek professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the younger brother of NBA stars Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo.
Early life and career
Kostas Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, to Nigerian parents. He began playing basketball at a young age, following in the footsteps of his older brothers, Giannis and Thanasis. He played for the youth teams of Filathlitikos Zografou, a local club in Athens.
In 2013, Antetokounmpo moved to the United States to attend Dominican High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He averaged 19.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game as a senior, leading his team to a 26-2 record. He was named a McDonald's All-American and was selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic.
College career
Antetokounmpo played one season of college basketball at the University of Dayton. He averaged 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in 16.8 minutes per game. He was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
Professional career
Antetokounmpo was selected with the 60th overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on draft night. He made his NBA debut on October 17, 2018, against the Phoenix Suns. He scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
Antetokounmpo was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on July 6, 2019. He won an NBA championship with the Lakers in 2020. He was traded to the Chicago Bulls on September 28, 2021.
International career
Antetokounmpo has represented Greece at the youth and senior levels. He won a gold medal with Greece at the 2018 FIBA Under-20 European Championship. He made his senior debut for Greece at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Personal life
Antetokounmpo is the son of Nigerian immigrants. He has two older brothers, Giannis and Thanasis, who are also NBA players. He is a Christian.
