Adam Ounas

Adam Ounas (born 11 November 1996) is an Algerian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Ligue 1 club Lille and the Algeria national team.

Club career

Early career

Ounas began his career with the youth team of US Chaouia, before moving to France in 2010 to join the youth academy of Tours. He made his professional debut for Tours on 16 May 2013, in a 2–1 defeat to Angers SCO. Ounas scored his first professional goal on 29 August 2014, in a 3–0 win over RC Lens.

Bordeaux

On 30 June 2015, Ounas signed a five-year contract with Ligue 1 club Bordeaux. He made his debut for Bordeaux on 8 August 2015, in a 3–2 win over Gazelec Ajaccio. Ounas scored his first goal for Bordeaux on 13 September 2015, in a 3–1 win over Stade Rennais.

Napoli

On 3 July 2017, Ounas signed a five-year contract with Serie A club Napoli for a reported fee of €10 million. He made his debut for Napoli on 20 August 2017, in a 2–1 win over Hellas Verona. Ounas scored his first goal for Napoli on 1 October 2017, in a 3–1 win over SPAL.

Loans to Nice and Cagliari

On 31 January 2019, Ounas was loaned to Ligue 1 club Nice until the end of the season. He made his debut for Nice on 2 February 2019, in a 1–0 win over Olympique Lyon. Ounas scored his first goal for Nice on 17 February 2019, in a 3–0 win over Montpellier HSC.

On 2 September 2019, Ounas was loaned to Serie A club Cagliari until the end of the season. He made his debut for Cagliari on 22 September 2019, in a 2–0 defeat to Atalanta. Ounas scored his first goal for Cagliari on 6 October 2019, in a 2–1 win over Genoa.

Return to Napoli

Ounas returned to Napoli ahead of the 2020–21 season. He made his first appearance of the season on 20 September 2020, in a 2–0 win over Parma. Ounas scored his first goal of the season on 2 November 2020, in a 6–0 win over Genoa.

Lille

On 1 September 2022, Ounas joined Ligue 1 club Lille on a four-year contract. He made his debut for Lille on 11 September 2022, in a 2–1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Ounas scored his first goal for Lille on 1 October 2022, in a 3–1 win over Angers SCO.

International career

Ounas made his debut for the Algeria national team on 13 June 2017, in a 3–0 win over Libya. He scored his first goal for Algeria on 7 October 2017, in a 3–0 win over Cameroon. Ounas was a member of the Algeria squad that won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Style of play

Ounas is a quick, skilful and agile winger, with good dribbling skills and an eye for goal. He is also a good passer and crosser of the ball. Ounas has been compared to former France and Arsenal winger Samir Nasri.
