Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques (born January 9, 1973) is a Jamaican dancehall singer, rapper, and songwriter. He is best known for his singles "Get Busy" (2002), "Gimme the Light" (2003), and "Temperature" (2005), all of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

Paul has sold more than 26 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling dancehall artists of all time. He has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award, an American Music Award, and a Billboard Music Award.

Early life and career

Sean Paul was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He is the son of Garth Henriques, a businessman, and Frances Henriques, a painter. Paul attended Wolmer's Boys' School in Kingston, where he developed a love for music. He began his career as a deejay on local sound systems in the early 1990s.

Paul's breakthrough came in 2002 with the release of his album Dutty Rock. The album was a critical and commercial success, selling over six million copies worldwide. The album's lead single, "Get Busy," reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

Paul's follow-up album, The Trinity (2005), was also a commercial success, selling over three million copies in the United States. The album's lead single, "Temperature," reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Later career

Paul has continued to release successful albums and singles throughout his career. His most recent album, Live N Livin' (2021), reached number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

Paul has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Enrique Iglesias. He has also appeared in several films, including Belly (1998) and Baby Boy (2001).

Personal life

Sean Paul is married to Jodi Stewart. They have two children together, a son named Levi and a daughter named Remi.

Paul is a Christian and he is involved in a number of charitable organizations. He is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
