Biography

Mavado was born David Constantine Brooks on November 30, 1981, in Kingston, Jamaica. He grew up in the Cassava Piece area of Spanish Town, a tough and crime-ridden neighborhood. Mavado's father was killed when he was young, and his mother raised him and his siblings as a single parent.

Mavado began his music career in the early 2000s, working with local producers and sound systems. In 2004, he released his debut album, "Gangsta for Life," which was a commercial success in Jamaica. Mavado's music is often characterized by its aggressive and confrontational lyrics, which have earned him the nickname "The Gully God."

In 2006, Mavado released his second album, "Mr. Brooks," which was an even greater commercial success than his debut. The album featured the hit singles "Weh Dem a Do," "Dying," and "Real McKoy."
