Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (Urdu: راحت فتح علی خان‬‎; born 9 December 1974) is a Pakistani singer, composer, and producer. He is the son of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a renowned qawwal, and is considered one of the most popular and influential qawwali singers of the present day.

Early life and career

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan, on 9 December 1974. He is the son of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a renowned qawwal, and his first wife, Farida Khanum. Rahat began learning qawwali at a young age, and he was performing professionally by the time he was in his early teens.

In 1993, Rahat released his debut album, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to launch Rahat's career as a solo artist. He has since released numerous albums, including Dil Janiye (1997), Taqdeer (2000), Junoon (2002), and Tere Bina (2005).

International success

In 1997, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan made his international debut at the World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) festival in the United Kingdom. He was a huge success at the festival, and he was soon invited to perform at other major international events, including the Glastonbury Festival and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
