Сергей Лазарев

Sergey Lazarev (Russian: Сергей Лазарев; born 1 April 1983) is a Russian singer, dancer, and actor. He was a member of the Russian boy band Smash!! from 2000 to 2004, after which he embarked on a solo career. Lazarev has represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest twice: in 2016, he placed third with "You're the Only One", and in 2019, he placed first in the jury vote and third overall with "Scream".

Early life and education

Sergey Lazarev was born in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, on 1 April 1983. He began singing and dancing at a young age, and he attended the Moscow Children's Art School. In 1995, Lazarev joined the children's musical group Neposedy, and he toured with the group throughout Russia and Europe.

Career

Smash!!

In 2000, Lazarev was selected as a member of the Russian boy band Smash!!. The band released their debut album, Freeway, in 2002. The album was a commercial success, and Smash!! became one of the most popular boy bands in Russia. The band released two more albums, 2Nite (2003) and Evolution (2004), before disbanding in 2004.

Solo career

After Smash!! disbanded, Lazarev embarked on a solo career. He released his debut solo album, Don't Be Fake, in 2005. The album was a commercial success, and it reached number one on the Russian Albums Chart. Lazarev has since released seven more solo albums, all of which have been commercially successful.

Eurovision Song Contest

Lazarev has represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest twice. In 2016, he placed third with the song "You're the Only One". In 2019, he placed first in the jury vote and third overall with the song "Scream".

Acting career

In addition to his music career, Lazarev has also had a successful acting career. He has appeared in several films and television shows, including the Russian films "The Club" (2006) and "The Best Film" (2017).

Personal life

Lazarev is openly gay. In 2016, he announced that he had become a father to a son, Nikita. The identity of Nikita's mother has not been publicly disclosed.
