Saoirse Una Ronan (/ˈsɜːrʃə ˈroʊnən/; born 12 April 1994) is an Irish actress. She has received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award, three Academy Award nominations, and four British Academy Film Award nominations.
Ronan was born in the Bronx, New York City, to Irish parents. She began her acting career at the age of 9, appearing in the Irish drama film I Could Never Be Your Woman (2007). She gained wider recognition for her roles in the films Atonement (2007), The Lovely Bones (2009), The Way Back (2010), and Hanna (2011).
