Šarūnas Jasikevičius
Šarūnas Jasikevičius (born March 5, 1976) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player. He is the current head coach of FC Barcelona Bàsquet of the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague.
As a player, Jasikevičius was a point guard with a strong three-point shot. He played for Žalgiris Kaunas, Lietuvos rytas Vilnius, Barcelona, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Panathinaikos, and Fenerbahçe. He won the EuroLeague championship with Barcelona in 2003 and with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2005. He also won the Lithuanian League championship five times, the Greek League championship three times, and the Turkish League championship twice.
Jasikevičius retired from playing in 2014 and began his coaching career as an assistant coach with Žalgiris Kaunas. He was appointed head coach of Žalgiris Kaunas in 2016 and led the team to the Lithuanian League championship in 2017 and 2018. He also led Žalgiris Kaunas to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2018.
In 2019, Jasikevičius was appointed head coach of Kaunas Žalgiris of the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) and the EuroLeague. He led the team to the LKL championship in 2020 and 2021, and to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021.
In 2020, Jasikevičius was appointed head coach of FC Barcelona Bàsquet of the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. He led the team to the Liga ACB championship in 2021, and to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021 and 2022.
Jasikevičius is considered to be one of the best point guards in European basketball history. He was named to the All-EuroLeague Team three times and was voted the EuroLeague MVP in 2005. He was also a member of the Lithuanian national team that won the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Jasikevičius is a popular figure in Lithuania and is often praised for his leadership and his basketball skills. He is also known for his outspoken personality and his sense of humor.
