Early life and education
Colin Farrell was born in Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland, on May 31, 1976. His mother, Rita, was a housewife, and his father, Eamon Farrell, was a professional footballer. Farrell has two older sisters, Catherine and Claudine. He attended St. Vincent's CBS, a secondary school in Glasnevin, Dublin. After graduating from St. Vincent's, Farrell studied acting at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin.
Career
Farrell made his acting debut in the 1996 film The Disappearance of Finbar. He then appeared in the films Veronica Guerin (1996), Ordinary Decent Criminal (1999), and Tigerland (2000). In 2002, Farrell starred in the films Minority Report and Phone Booth. He then appeared in the films S.W.A.T. (2003), The Recruit (2003), Miami Vice (2006), In Bruges (2008), Ondine (2009), Crazy Heart (2009), and The Way Back (2010).
In 2012, Farrell starred in the films Total Recall and Seven Psychopaths. He then appeared in the films Dead Man Down (2013), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), The Lobster (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017), and Widows (2018). In 2020, Farrell starred in the film The Batman.

Personal life
Farrell has two children, James Padraig Farrell (2003) with Kim Bordenave, and Henry Tadeusz Farrell (2009) with Alicja Bachleda-Curuś. He has been in relationships with Demi Moore, Angelina Jolie, and Britney Spears.
Farrell is a supporter of the Irish language and culture. He is also a patron of the Dublin Youth Theatre.
