Wagner Moura

Wagner Moura (born June 27, 1976) is a Brazilian actor, director, and producer. He is best known for his roles as Captain Nascimento in the Elite Squad film series, Pablo Escobar in the Netflix series Narcos, and Javi Guttierez in the HBO series The Wire.

Moura was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He began his acting career in the early 2000s, appearing in a number of Brazilian films and television shows. He gained international recognition for his role as Captain Nascimento in the 2007 film Elite Squad. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it won the Golden Bear award at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival.

Moura went on to star in the sequel to Elite Squad, Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, which was released in 2010. He also appeared in a number of other films, including Carandiru (2003), The Lower City (2005), and Trash (2014).

In 2015, Moura began starring as Pablo Escobar in the Netflix series Narcos. The series was a critical and commercial success, and it ran for three seasons. Moura received a Golden Globe Award nomination for his performance.

In 2019, Moura starred in the HBO series The Wire. He played Javi Guttierez, a Colombian drug trafficker who is trying to establish a new drug empire in Baltimore. Moura received critical acclaim for his performance.
