Nicholas Brendon
Nicholas Brendon Schultz (born April 12, 1971) is an American actor, best known for his roles as Xander Harris in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) and Kevin Lynch in the television series Criminal Minds (2007–2014).
Brendon was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Barbara (née Schultz) and Dale Brendon. He has a younger brother, Kelly Donovan. Brendon attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied theater.
Brendon began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in small roles in television shows and films. In 1997, he landed the role of Xander Harris in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The series, which ran for seven seasons, was a critical and commercial success, and Brendon's performance as Xander was praised by critics.
After Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended in 2003, Brendon continued to act in television and film. He had recurring roles in the television series Angel (2003–2004), Private Practice (2007–2008), and Criminal Minds (2007–2014). He also starred in the films Psycho Beach Party (2000), Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Video Game (2002), and Coherence (2013).
In addition to his acting career, Brendon is also a musician. He has released two albums, Fool Me Once (2001) and Set Me Free (2006).
Brendon has been open about his struggles with substance abuse and mental illness. In 2015, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He has also spoken out about the importance of mental health awareness.
Brendon is married to actress Sarah Hagan. They have a daughter, Evelyn Violet.
