Richard Carapaz: The Ecuadorian Cycling Star

Richard Carapaz is an Ecuadorian professional road cyclist who currently rides for the INEOS Grenadiers team. He is one of the most successful cyclists from Ecuador and Latin America, having won several major races including the 2019 Giro d'Italia and the 2020 Olympic Games road race.

Carapaz was born on May 29, 1993, in the small town of El Carmelo, Carchi, Ecuador. He began cycling at a young age, and quickly showed a talent for the sport. He won several national championships as a junior and U23 rider, and in 2016 he turned professional with the Movistar Team.

Carapaz quickly made a name for himself in the professional peloton, winning stages in the Vuelta a España and the Tour de France. He also finished on the podium of the Vuelta a España in 2018.
