Leehom Wang
Leehom Wang (born March 17, 1976) is a Chinese-American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor and film director. He is known for his fusion of Eastern and Western musical styles, and his songs often feature elements of traditional Chinese music, R&B, hip-hop, and pop. Wang is also a multi-instrumentalist, and plays the piano, guitar, drums, and bass guitar.
Wang was born in Rochester, New York, to Taiwanese parents. He began playing the piano at the age of three, and started writing songs at the age of 13. He attended Williams College in Massachusetts, where he studied music and English. After graduating from Williams, Wang moved to Taiwan in 1995 to pursue a career in music.
Wang released his debut album, Leehom, in 1995. The album was a commercial success, and won Wang the Golden Melody Award for Best New Artist. He followed up with a series of successful albums, including Chang Le (1996), Gong Zhuan (1997), and Hua Tian Ju Di (1998). In 1999, Wang released his first English-language album, The One and Only. The album was a critical and commercial success, and helped Wang to establish a global fan base.
Wang has continued to release successful albums in both Mandarin and English. He has also starred in several films, including Lust, Caution (2007), Little Big Soldier (2010), and Dragon Blade (2015). In 2013, Wang was appointed as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme.
Wang is one of the most popular and successful singers in Asia. He has won numerous awards, including 17 Golden Melody Awards, 11 MTV Asia Music Awards, and four World Music Awards. He has also been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
Wang is known for his philanthropic work. He has donated millions of dollars to various charities, and has established his own foundation, the Leehom Wang Foundation, to support education and poverty alleviation.
Wang is married to Taiwanese actress Lisa Li. They have two children together.
