Levi Roots
Levi Roots, born Keith Valentine Graham, is a British reggae singer, songwriter, chef, and television personality. He is best known for his Reggae Reggae Sauce, a Caribbean-style barbecue sauce, and for his appearance on the BBC Two show Dragons' Den, where he secured an investment from Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis.
Early life and career
Roots was born in Jamaica in 1958. He moved to London with his family in 1960. He grew up in Brixton, South London, and attended Tulse Hill Comprehensive School. After leaving school, Roots worked as a market trader and a DJ.
Dragons' Den
In 2007, Roots appeared on the BBC Two show Dragons' Den, seeking an investment of £50,000 for his Reggae Reggae Sauce. He impressed the Dragons with his passion and enthusiasm, and secured an investment of £25,000 from Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis.
Success of Reggae Reggae Sauce
After appearing on Dragons' Den, Reggae Reggae Sauce became a huge success. It is now sold in supermarkets across the UK and in many other countries around the world. Roots has also released a number of cookbooks and has appeared on several television shows, including Saturday Kitchen and The Hairy Bikers' Food Tour.
Personal life
Roots is married to Caroline Graham. They have two sons, Levi Roots Jr. and Kaleb Roots. Roots is a passionate supporter of Arsenal F.C.
