Rita Sahatçiu Ora (born 26 November 1990) is a British singer-songwriter, actress, and television personality. She rose to fame in 2012 with the release of her debut studio album, Ora, which debuted at number one in the United Kingdom and spawned the singles "Hot Right Now", "How We Do (Party)", and "R.I.P.". Ora's second studio album, Phoenix, was released in 2018 and debuted at number five in the United Kingdom. She has sold over 20 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling British female artists of all time.
Ora has also appeared in a number of films, including Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), and Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019). She has also been a judge on the British television talent show The X Factor from 2015 to 2016 and 2017 to 2018.
Early Life Ora was born in Pristina, Yugoslavia (now Kosovo), to Albanian parents Vera and Besnik Sahatçiu. Her family moved to London when she was a child. Ora attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and the BRIT School. She began singing at a young age and performed in local productions of musicals such as Annie and The Wizard of Oz.
Career Ora's career began in 2008 when she was signed to Roc Nation, the record label founded by Jay-Z. She released her debut single, "Hot Right Now", in 2012. The song reached number one in the United Kingdom and became a top-ten hit in several other countries. Ora's debut studio album, Ora, was released later that year and debuted at number one in the United Kingdom. The album spawned the singles "How We Do (Party)" and "R.I.P.", both of which reached the top ten in the United Kingdom.
