Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian chess grandmaster and the current World Chess Champion. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest chess players of all time.
Early Life and Career
Carlsen was born in Tønsberg, Norway, on November 30, 1990. He learned to play chess at the age of five and quickly showed a talent for the game. He won the Norwegian Junior Chess Championship at the age of 13 and became a grandmaster at the age of 15.
Carlsen's early successes led to him being invited to play in a number of prestigious chess tournaments. In 2004, he won the Corus Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. This was the first time that a Norwegian player had won this tournament.
