Edsilia Rombley
Edsilia Rombley (born February 13, 1978) is a Dutch singer, television presenter, and actress. She is best known for representing the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 1998 and 2007, and for winning the fifth season of the Dutch version of Dancing with the Stars in 2006.
Rombley was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to a Surinamese father and a Dutch mother. She began singing at a young age and joined her first band, Kidz Act, at the age of 12. In 1995, she released her debut solo single, "He's the One". The song reached number 14 on the Dutch Singles Chart.
In 1998, Rombley represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Hemel en aarde". The song finished fourth in the contest, which was held in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
After the Eurovision Song Contest, Rombley continued to release music and tour throughout the Netherlands. In 2004, she released her second studio album, "Face to Face". The album reached number 25 on the Dutch Albums Chart.
In 2006, Rombley won the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars. She and her partner, Jan Kooijman, were declared the winners after a close final against Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen and her partner, Coen Swijnenberg.
In 2007, Rombley represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest again with the song "On Top of the World". The song finished eighth in the contest, which was held in Helsinki, Finland.
After the Eurovision Song Contest, Rombley continued to release music and tour throughout the Netherlands. In 2009, she released her third studio album, "Unstoppable". The album reached number 16 on the Dutch Albums Chart.
In 2010, Rombley made her acting debut in the Dutch television series "Gooische Vrouwen". She played the role of Michelle Gouda for two seasons.
In 2012, Rombley released her fourth studio album, "The Dutch Divas". The album was a collaboration with fellow Dutch singers Glennis Grace and Berget Lewis. The album reached number 1 on the Dutch Albums Chart.
In 2014, Rombley joined the judging panel of The Voice of Holland. She remained a judge on the show for two seasons.
In 2016, Rombley released her fifth studio album, "Uit mijn hart". The album reached number 1 on the Dutch Albums Chart.
In 2017, Rombley was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
In 2018, Rombley released her sixth studio album, "Balance". The album reached number 1 on the Dutch Albums Chart.
In 2019, Rombley was announced as the host of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. However, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rombley was subsequently announced as the host of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, which was held in Rotterdam.
Rombley is a versatile and talented artist who has achieved great success in her career. She is a role model for many young people and an inspiration to all those who pursue their dreams.
