Agnieszka Radwańska

Agnieszka Roma Radwańska (Polish pronunciation: [aɡˈɲɛʂka radˈvaɲska]; born 6 March 1989) is a Polish former professional tennis player. She was ranked as high as world No. 2 in singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), which she attained on 9 July 2012, and world No. 15 in doubles. She is the highest ranked Polish tennis player, male or female, in history. Agnieszka is also, as of 2020, the only Polish female tennis player to reach the top 5 in singles.

Radwańska turned professional in 2005. She won 20 WTA Tour singles titles, including the 2015 WTA Finals, and was runner-up at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. She also reached the semifinals of the 2014 US Open and the 2016 Australian Open. In doubles, she won one WTA Tour title.

Radwańska represented Poland at the Olympics three times, in 2008, 2012, and 2016. She also represented Poland in the Fed Cup from 2006 to 2018, compiling a 37–14 win–loss record.

Radwańska retired from professional tennis on 14 November 2018. She was inducted into the WTA Hall of Fame in 2022.

Playing style

Radwańska was known for her all-court game and her consistent, accurate groundstrokes. She was also a good mover and had a strong backhand. She was known for her "Magic Shot", a between-the-legs lob.

Personal life

Radwańska was born in Kraków, Poland, to Robert and Marta Radwański. She has a younger sister, Urszula, who is also a professional tennis player. Radwańska is married to Dawid Celt, a former Polish tennis player. The couple have one son, Jakub, who was born in 2020.
