Early life

Pérola was born on August 27, 1983, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is the daughter of a pastor and a nurse. She began singing at the age of 5 and started taking vocal lessons at the age of 12. She was inspired by singers such as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Beyoncé.

Career

Pérola began her career as a backing vocalist for other artists, such as Belo and Xande de Pilares. In 2002, she released her debut album, "Pérola Negra". The album was a commercial success and helped Pérola to gain recognition in the Brazilian music industry.
