Anders Fogh Rasmussen
Anders Fogh Rasmussen (born 26 January 1953) is a Danish politician who served as the 24th Prime Minister of Denmark from 2001 to 2009 and the 12th Secretary General of NATO from 2009 to 2014. He is a member of the Venstre party.
Early Life and Education
Anders Fogh Rasmussen was born in Gistrup, a small town in northern Jutland. He attended the local public school and later studied economics and political science at Aarhus University, graduating in 1978.
Political Career
Anders Fogh Rasmussen began his political career in the early 1980s, when he was elected to the municipal council in his hometown. He was elected to the Danish Parliament in 1987 and served as Minister of Taxation from 1989 to 1990.
In 1998, Anders Fogh Rasmussen became the leader of the Venstre party. He led the party to victory in the 2001 general election, becoming Prime Minister of Denmark. He was re-elected in 2005 and 2007.
As Prime Minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen implemented a number of reforms, including tax cuts, welfare reform and the introduction of user fees for healthcare and education. He also oversaw Denmark's entry into the European Union in 1993.
In 2009, Anders Fogh Rasmussen was elected as the 12th Secretary General of NATO. He served in this role until 2014.
Post-Political Career
After leaving NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen founded the Rasmussen Global consulting firm. He is also a member of the board of directors of several companies, including Carlsberg and Vestas.
Personal Life
Anders Fogh Rasmussen is married to Anne-Mette Rasmussen. They have three children.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen has received numerous awards and honors, including the Grand Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog, the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Danish government. He has also received honorary degrees from several universities.
