Papa Wemba

Papa Wemba (14 June 1949 – 24 April 2016), born Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba, was a Congolese singer, dancer, musician, composer, and producer. He was often hailed as the "King of Congolese Rumba" or "King of Rumba Rock". Wemba was considered one of the pioneers of modern Congolese music, known for his innovative style and energetic stage performances.

Early Life and Music Career: Papa Wemba was born in 1949 in Lubefu, Belgian Congo (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). He grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age.
