Jacki Weaver
Jacki Weaver (born 25 May 1947) is an Australian actress. She has appeared in over 80 films and television shows, and has won numerous awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress and a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Weaver is known for her versatility and ability to play a wide range of characters, from the matriarch in Animal Kingdom (2010) to the eccentric poet in Bird Box (2018).
Weaver was born in Sydney, Australia, and began her acting career on stage in the 1960s. She made her film debut in 1971 in the Australian film Stork, and went on to star in a number of other Australian films, including Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978), and Breaker Morant (1980). In the 1990s, Weaver began to appear in more international films, including The Piano (1993), Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), and Babe (1995).
In 2010, Weaver received critical acclaim for her performance as the matriarch in the Australian crime drama Animal Kingdom. For her role, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, becoming the oldest actress to win the award for a first-time nomination. She also won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Since then, Weaver has continued to appear in a variety of films, including The Sapphires (2012), Silver Linings Playbook (2012), Macbeth (2015), and Widows (2018). In 2018, she received her second Academy Award nomination for her performance in Bird Box.
Weaver is a respected and acclaimed actress known for her versatility and ability to play a wide range of characters. She has won numerous awards for her work, including two Academy Awards and a BAFTA Award.
