Evan Rachel Wood is an American actress. She is known for her roles in the films Thirteen (2003), Across the Universe (2007), The Wrestler (2008), Mildred Pierce (2011), and True Blood (2008–2014). Wood has also starred in the Broadway productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2014) and Waiting for Godot (2015).

Early life and career

Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Ira David Wood III, a local actor, and Sara Lynn Moore, a homemaker. She has one younger brother, Ira David Wood IV. Wood's parents divorced when she was young, and she lived with her mother and stepfather in California.

Wood began her acting career at the age of seven, appearing in commercials and television shows. She made her film debut in the 1998 film Practical Magic, in which she played the young Sally Owens. Wood went on to star in the films Little Secrets (2001), S1m0ne (2002), and Thirteen (2003). Thirteen was a critical and commercial success, and Wood received a Golden Globe Award nomination for her performance.

Career

After the success of Thirteen, Wood starred in a number of films, including Across the Universe (2007), The Wrestler (2008), Mildred Pierce (2011), and The Ides of March (2011). She also had a recurring role in the HBO series True Blood (2008–2014).

In 2014, Wood starred in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance. Wood also starred in the 2015 Broadway revival of Waiting for Godot.

Personal life

Evan Rachel Wood married Jamie Bell in 2012. They have two children together. Wood and Bell divorced in 2014.

Wood has been open about her struggles with mental health. She has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Wood has also been a vocal advocate for victims of sexual assault.
