James Rodríguez is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Qatari club Al-Rayyan and the Colombia national team.
Rodríguez began his career at Envigado before moving to Banfield in Argentina. In 2010, he joined Porto in Portugal, where he won three Primeira Liga titles and the Taça de Portugal. In 2013, he was named Portuguese League Player of the Year.
In 2014, Rodríguez joined Monaco for a fee of €45 million. He helped the club win the Ligue 1 title in his first season and was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year. He also had a successful World Cup campaign with Colombia, winning the Golden Boot award.
In 2015, Rodríguez joined Real Madrid for a fee of €80 million. He won the UEFA Champions League twice with the club, in 2015–16 and 2016–17. He also won the La Liga title in 2016–17.
In 2017, Rodríguez joined Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal. He won the Bundesliga title with the club in 2018–19.
In 2019, Rodríguez returned to Real Madrid. He left the club in 2020 and joined Everton on a free transfer.
In 2021, Rodríguez joined Qatari club Al-Rayyan.
Rodríguez has made over 80 appearances for the Colombia national team. He has scored over 20 goals for his country and has been named the captain of the team.
