Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (born 26 November 1988) is an Icelandic former professional strongman and actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Björnsson has won the World's Strongest Man competition four times, in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. He is also a former winner of the Arnold Strongman Classic, which he won in 2016 and 2018.
Björnsson was born in Reykjavík, Iceland. He began his strongman career in 2006, and quickly rose to prominence. He won the Iceland's Strongest Man competition in 2010, and the Europe's Strongest Man competition in 2012. In 2013, he finished second in the World's Strongest Man competition, behind Brian Shaw. He won the competition for the first time in 2018, and successfully defended his title in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
In addition to his strongman career, Björnsson has also pursued an acting career. He made his acting debut in the 2015 film Kraftaverk (Powerhouse). He has also appeared in the films Game of Thrones (2011-2019), Kickboxer: Retaliation (2018), and Playing with Fire (2019).
