Biography
Jayma Mays was born on July 16, 1979, in Grundy, Virginia, U.S. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she studied theater. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
Mays made her acting debut in a small role in the 2004 film Red Eye. She went on to appear in a number of other films, including Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009), Date Night (2010), and The Smurfs (2011).
In 2009, Mays landed the role of Emma Pillsbury in the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee. The show was a huge success, and Mays's performance as the ditzy but lovable choir teacher was praised by critics. She remained on the show until its conclusion in 2015.
After Glee ended, Mays starred in the CBS sitcom The Millers (2013–2014) and the NBC sitcom Trial & Error (2017–2018). She has also appeared in a number of other television shows, including Heroes (2006–2007), Ugly Betty (2006–2007), and How I Met Your Mother (2008–2014).
Mays is married to actor Adam Campbell. They have two children together.
