Biography:
Sidse Babett Knudsen is a Danish actress. She is best known for her roles as Birgitte Nyborg in the Danish political drama television series Borgen (2010–2013), and as Theresa Cullen in the HBO science fiction western television series Westworld (2016–2022).
Knudsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to a Danish father and a German mother. She studied acting at the Danish National School of Theatre and Contemporary Dance in Copenhagen. After graduating, she began her career in the Danish theater.
In 2000, Knudsen made her film debut in the Danish film Flickering Lights. She went on to appear in a number of Danish films, including Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself (2002), The One and Only (2002), and Efter brylluppet (2006).
In 2010, Knudsen gained international recognition for her role as Birgitte Nyborg in the Danish political drama television series Borgen. The series was a critical and commercial success, and Knudsen received several awards for her performance, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama in 2013.
In 2016, Knudsen began starring as Theresa Cullen in the HBO science fiction western television series Westworld. The series was also a critical and commercial success, and Knudsen received several awards for her performance, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2018.
