John Travolta was born on February 18, 1954, in Englewood, New Jersey. His parents were Salvatore Travolta, a semi-professional football player and tire salesman, and Helen Cecilia Burke, an actress and singer. Travolta has five siblings: Joey, Ellen, Ann, Margaret, and Sam.
Travolta grew up in a working-class Italian-American family. He attended Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, but dropped out at the age of 16 to pursue a career in show business.
