Early Life
Masi Oka was born in Tokyo, Japan, on December 27, 1974. He moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was six years old. Oka attended Brown University, where he studied computer science and mathematics. After graduating from Brown, he worked as a digital effects artist at Industrial Light & Magic.
Acting Career
Oka made his acting debut in the 1999 film "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." He went on to appear in a number of films and television shows, including "Scrubs," "Heroes," and "Hawaii Five-0." Oka is best known for his role as Hiro Nakamura in "Heroes," a Japanese office worker who discovers that he has the ability to teleport.
Producing Career
Oka has also worked as a producer on a number of films and television shows, including "Heroes Reborn," "The Mick," and "Upload." He is the founder of the production company Oka Studios.
Personal Life
Oka is married to Miho Takasugi. They have two children. Oka is a private pilot and a licensed scuba diver. He is also a member of the board of directors of the National Japanese American Historical Society.
