Amitabh Bachchan (born 11 October 1942) is an Indian actor, film producer, television host, playback singer, and former politician. He is one of the most successful and influential actors in the history of Indian cinema. Bachchan has acted in over 200 films in a career spanning more than five decades. He is often referred to as the "Shahenshah of Bollywood" or "Big B".
Bachchan was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, to Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a poet, and Teji Bachchan, a social activist. He has a younger brother, Ajitabh Bachchan, and a younger sister, Reema Bachchan. Bachchan attended Sherwood College in Nainital and Kirori Mal College in Delhi.
Bachchan began his acting career in the 1969 film Saat Hindustani.
