Anil Kapoor
Anil Kapoor (born 24 December 1956) is an Indian actor and producer who has worked in Hindi films. He has appeared in over 100 films and won several awards, including two National Film Awards, a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and a BAFTA Award.
Kapoor was born in Chembur, Mumbai. He is the son of producer Surinder Kapoor and the younger brother of actor Boney Kapoor. Kapoor studied at the Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi. He began his acting career in 1971 with the film Haath Ki Safai. He gained recognition with the 1980 film Ek Duuje Ke Liye, for which he won his first National Film Award for Best Actor.
Kapoor went on to star in a number of successful films, including Meri Jung (1985), Mr. India (1987), Tezaab (1988), Ram Lakhan (1989), 1942: A Love Story (1994), Judaai (1997), Taal (1999), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Beta (1992), Ghar Ho To Aisa (1990), Jaanbaaz (1986), Karma (1986), Mashal (1984), Woh Saat Din (1983), Shakti (1982), and Virasat (1997), for which he won his second National Film Award for Best Actor.
In 2002, Kapoor made his Hollywood debut with the film Slumdog Millionaire. The film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and Kapoor was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since appeared in a number of other Hollywood films, including Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011), 24 (2013), and Dil Dhadakne Do (2015).
Kapoor is married to Sunita Kapoor and they have three children: Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, and Harshvardhan Kapoor. He is also the uncle of actor Arjun Kapoor.
