Abdul Hadi Awang is a Malaysian politician who has been the President of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) since 2002. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Marang since 1986.
Hadi was born on 22 October 1947 in Kampung Rusila, Marang, Terengganu. He received his early education at the Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Rusila and then went on to study at the Sultan Zainal Abidin College in Kuala Terengganu. After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher at the Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Rusila.
Hadi entered politics in 1982 when he was elected to the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly as the representative for Marang. He was appointed as the Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Terengganu in 1999 and served until 2004.
In 2002, Hadi was elected as the President of PAS. He has led the party to victory in several state elections, including Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.
Hadi is a controversial figure in Malaysian politics. He is known for his strong views on Islam and his opposition to the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition. He has been accused of being a religious extremist and of promoting violence against non-Muslims.
Despite the controversies, Hadi remains a popular figure among PAS supporters. He is seen as a champion of Islam and a defender of Malay rights.

Hadi is married to Zainun Abu Bakar. They have four children together.
