Margot Robbie (born 2 July 1990) is an Australian actress and producer. She has received two Academy Award nominations and three Golden Globe Award nominations. In 2017, Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world, and in 2019, Forbes magazine ranked her as one of the highest-paid actresses in the world.
Robbie was born in Dalby, Queensland, Australia. She began acting in local theater productions at a young age, and in 2007, she moved to Melbourne to pursue a career in television. She appeared in several Australian television series, including Neighbours (2008–2011) and Pan Am (2011–2012).
Robbie's breakthrough role came in Martin Scorsese's 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street, in which she played the wife of Leonardo DiCaprio's character. She received critical acclaim for her performance, and she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2015, she starred in the romantic drama Suite Française, and in 2016, she played Jane in Disney's The Legend of Tarzan.
In 2017, Robbie starred in I, Tonya, a biographical comedy-drama about figure skater Tonya Harding. She received critical acclaim for her performance, and she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. She also starred in the superhero film Suicide Squad, in which she played Harley Quinn.
In 2018, Robbie starred in the romantic comedy-drama Terminal, and in 2019, she played Sharon Tate in the comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She also starred in the superhero film Birds of Prey, in which she reprised her role as Harley Quinn.
In 2020, Robbie starred in the drama Promising Young Woman, which she also produced. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Robbie also starred in the thriller Dreamland.
In 2021, Robbie starred in the historical drama Mary Queen of Scots, in which she played Queen Elizabeth I. She also starred in the action thriller The Suicide Squad, in which she reprised her role as Harley Quinn.
Robbie is married to British film producer Tom Ackerley. The couple have two children.
